TUFLOW Training in Australia

TUFLOW training in Australia is offered in several ways.

  1. Customised training according to the users' needs (by far the most common approach).
  2. Generic training courses based on the TUFLOW Tutorial Model.
  3. Advanced users training by reviewing models and providing constructive feedback face-to-face.
  4. Annual TUFLOW Users Workshops.

1. Nearly all initial TUFLOW training in Australia is customised on a case-by-case basis to suit the users' needs. In most situations the training focuses on the trainee(s) developing a working TUFLOW model for a study or project with guidance by the TUFLOW trainer. This has proven to be very effective in meeting the specific needs of the trainee(s) and maximises the trainee(s) learning. In addition, some/all of the training fees can often be recouped via the study's budget. The aim is to produce a working model and to cover the TUFLOW features that the model requires so that the trainee(s) can continue to construct the model after the training has finished.

The length of training needed varies considerably depending on the experience and number of trainee(s), and the range of TUFLOW features to be covered. Usually two to five days should be allowed for, and suits small groups (usually one to four). The TUFLOW trainer can visit the trainee(s) offices, or alternatively, for one or two trainees they can visit the trainer's office and receive training as and when required.

2. Generic TUFLOW training courses are available using the TUFLOW Tutorial Model. This is suited to larger groups or where a study is not available for developing a project based model. By using the tutorial model users can progress at different speeds depending on their level of expertise. Generic courses usually extend over three or four days.

3. Advanced training and model reviews are an excellent way for ensuring that trainee(s) are using the best and latest features, are modelling efficiently, and are producing quality models.

4. Annual one-day workshops are a good way of being brought up-to-date on the latest features, hearing about new and upcoming features, discussing modelling approaches/techniques with Bill Syme the primary author of TUFLOW, and meeting other modellers.

The cost for training and model reviews is on a time and expenses basis - please contact training@tuflow.com for a quote or to have someone call you back to discuss training needs in detail.
