ERROR 2429 Check Disk Space

Recommended Posts

We recently had a situation in which we were getting the following error with the XMDF output data:

ERROR 2429 - Could not write XMDF scalar data. Check disk space.

We tracked this down to the file system of the drive we were writing to being FAT32, this file system has a maximum file size limit of 4GB (see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314463). Once our output got to this size, we got the error 2429 (even though there was disk space available). The FAT32 is mainly used on USB thumbdrives.

We have reformatted the drive in NTFS file system and this seems to fix the issue. The error message will be changed in future release to prompt you to check for this as a cause.
