Upcoming TUFLOW Training

In preparation for the respective software releases, we are scheduling in person events in London, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. Two event types are being offered, a new release workshop and hands-on training session. Hands-on training is an opportunity for modellers to implement the new features under the guidance of the senior TUFLOW staff.

TUFLOW’s popular self-teaching, license free tutorials have received major overhaul. The tutorials have been revised to align with current industry best practice using TUFLOW’s latest features and transition to the HPC solver. The documentation is also new, both in content, style and structure. All tutorial documentation now includes demonstration video snippets throughout to help streamline your self-guided learning experience.

Environment Agency of Abu Dhabi - TUFLOW Water Quality Modelling

The Environment Agency of Abu Dhabi have recently finished phase two of a three phase Environmental Modelling Capacity Building training program.

The increased use of TUFLOW for water quality modelling applications across a wide range of environmental settings globally is encouraging and exciting for the TUFLOW Team. At the time of writing training is occurring in Australia, Asia, Europe, North America and the Middle East.

TUFLOW UK/Europe User Conference-Early Bird Tickets Now Available

The TUFLOW team, together with our long-term collaborators, Edenvale Young, are busy planning the UK/Europe 2021 TUFLOW User Conference.  Originally planned to be held in June 2020, the event was postponed due to the global Covid-19 pandemic and has been re-scheduled for Tuesday 21st and Wednesday 22nd September 2021 at the world-renowned Bristol Zoo.

Webinar: UKHO Innovation ADMIRALTY Challenge

The UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO) announced BMT as the winners of the ADMIRALTY Marine Innovation Programme challenge in December 2020. The challenge tasked participants with creating an innovative solution to unlocking autonomous navigation for commercial shipping.

To address the needs of the challenge, BMT created a new navigation system, which combined its field-proven marine navigation simulator, REMBRANDT, with TUFLOW FV hydraulic modelling software.

Dr Phil Thompson will talk about the creation of a new navigation system that led to the winning entry of the ADMIRALTY Marine Innovation Programme challenge. The webinar hosted by the Society of Maritime Industries (SMI) will take place on 16th February at 10:30 (GMT).

Floodplain Management Australia (FMA) Webinar Series

Floodplain Management Australia (FMA) is the peak national body for flood risk practitioners in Australia. FMA are running an FMA Member exclusive webinar series. The series features some of the most popular presentations from the FMA Conference program. A new webinar is published fortnightly, and remains available for viewing for a two week period.

The current webinar in the series happens to showcase an interesting BMT project for Toowoomba Regional Council that used TUFLOW as the flood modelling software for LGA-wide assessment of flood risk.

Duncan Kitts, TUFLOW’s UK/Europe Lead, will present the latest developments in 2D flood modelling online on February 2nd at 11:15 (GMT) at Scotland’s premier annual Flood Risk Management conference, FRM2021.

The presentation will review hydraulic modelling over the last 50 years and provide insights into TUFLOW’s recent, industry leading R&D that is shaping the future of hydraulic modelling and its application in flood risk management.

BMT has been awarded a contract to support the Scottish Seafood Industry in which TUFLOW's modelling solution will be used to target effective lice treatment practices, minimise environmental impact while reducing treatment costs and production losses, ensuring seafood security for years to come through sustainable farming practices.

Award: AFR Top 10 Most Innovative Company List

TUFLOW's 2020 software release awarded BMT a top ten spot on the Australian Financial Review's 2020 list of Australia and New Zealand's Most Innovative Companies (Professional Services category). The 2020 release is setting the global benchmark for hydraulic model simulation speed and accuracy by combining a range of complimentary innovations; namely GPU acceleration, a unique sub-grid sampling approach, quadtree mesh refinement and a world first cell size independent turbulence closure scheme. TUFLOW continues to lead the way and redefine what is industry best practice internationally.
