Overview

Recent user surveys indicate over 65% of TUFLOW modellers use QGIS as their model development and result viewing environment. The free QGIS TUFLOW plugin provides an excellent toolbox of functions to increase model build and result viewing efficiency.  This half day hands-on course teaches how to effectively use the latest tools native to QGIS 3 and the TUFLOW’s new GIS database format Geopackage. Advanced use and latest features of the free QGIS TUFLOW plugin (including the TUFLOW Viewer), such as new Processing Toolbar functions, exporting high quality animations and how to batch export flood maps, are also a focus of the course.

Need to Know

Format

This course will be run over 3 to 4 hours either in classroom or via Zoom.

The online version of this course is limited to a class size of six trainees so that all participants receive a personalised experience and there is plenty of scope to interact and discuss with the trainer. Short preparation session will be held the week prior to the course to ensure all trainees can access the training portal, have the necessary software installed and course data downloaded.

The classroom in person course is limited to a class size of twelve trainees.

The hands-on training part is completely interactive with each attendee completing the QGIS exercises under the guidance of our trainer.

Prerequisites

Entry level ability in using QGIS for TUFLOW modelling is necessary.  Prior completion of the following free eLearning courses is required:

  • TT001 - QGIS Essentials for TUFLOW Users
  • TT102 - Introduction to 2D Modelling
